We’re absolutely made up with the two bookcases that Steven has made for us. It has completely transformed our lounge – the design, quality and style is second to none. Teamed with excellent customer service, delivery and install the whole process from initial design concept through to detailed design and final implementation has been seamless.

Absolutely delighted with the new Cambridge radiator covers in Oak with slatted grill and also the Oak Vanity Unit. All the items certainly enhance the look of our home and many friends have commented on how lovely they look.

We had a vague idea what we wanted when ordering the cabinet but Steven’s artistic and technical expertise ensured that the cabinet blended perfectly with the original furniture. We are very satisfied customers and have placed a second commission with SPK Cabinetmaking.

In the planning stages, I had very specific ideas of what I wanted, and Steven was excellent in turning my specifications into a working plan. I visited him as I had initial concerns about the quality of workmanship, he showed me his work area and current jobs commissioned, workmanship looked amazing. Drawings were prepared to ensure all details were correct, and nothing seemed too much trouble for him.

During the onsite building of the TV Unit, Steven and his colleague were very professional. They were punctual, work was on-time, and the work-space was kept tidy throughout. They were also able to work around my busy work schedule, and I was able to let them get on with it..

The finished TV unit looks exceptional, thank you . Solid as a rock and excellent workmanship. They're beautifully designed, and look fantastic in the room. Everyone who has visited has commented on them, and asked for Stevens details should they need work done themselves. When I need another unit , I will not hesitate to contact SPK Cabinet making again.

Just a quick note to thank you for the cabinet, it looks stunning. It goes without saying. we will recommend you to family and friends.

Trying to find a table that could fit neatly into a busy family room for everyday meals but that could also be extended for when we had friends or family round proved to be incredibly difficult. I happened upon Steve's website and saw that he may be able to help. A quick call to Steve in which I described exactly what I wanted gave me the confidence that he could make a table to my specification. The result is an extendable walnut table that can sit six to ten people. It has insertable leaves as I was adamant that I did not want extensions that "bolted" onto each end as I wanted it to look and function like a proper table when extended. Steve advised and took me through every aspect of the design and finish so he was happy that I would be happy with the final piece. Having a bespoke table that is not only beautiful but also functional and allows us to use the space we have most effectively is a real treat. I expect to enjoy endless meals and celebrations around this table for many years to come.

Dressing Table

After extensive research to find a dressing table small enough to fit into an alcove in our bedroom, I asked Steve if he could put something together for me. Not only did he make a piece that fits perfectly, but he also advised in the design to make something more individual than the rather austere table I'd asked for, while still keeping it very simple and beautiful looking. A bespoke, professionally made, personally delivered piece of furniture for what I thought was for a very fair price given the cost of some of the off-the-shelf stuff I had seen in my research. Several years ago, we asked Steve to make a custom cabinet to hold CDs, tapes and DVDs. We were delighted with the result: well finished, solidly built, clean lines, and shows off the wood (American black walnut) to full advantage. Having filled up the first one, we asked Steve to make an exact copy, which he was able to do quickly and efficiently. Can recommend without any reservations.

After looking for over a year for a fire surround in shops, the internet, magazines etc. Everything I looked at was predictable in appearance until i came across SPK joinery. As soon as i looked at the Manhattan surround i new that was what i've been looking for, something a bit different that would fit in to a small 1930s semi.
Everyone who has looked at the surround has commented that it looks as though its been there for ages and think it looks great.
I am very pleased with the surround and would recommend spk joinery to anyone.

I'm the very proud owner of a beautiful oak, inlaid with walnut, TV unit which has become a bit of a party piece.

Steve is a very talented cabinet maker and dare I say perfectionist! I thoroughly enjoyed our collaboration.
I was one of those clients who had a very clear design in mind and I wanted to use a material Steve had not considered before.

Steve was very helpful from the outset with info on how the tv unit could work for my needs.
Once he had mastered how best to apply the material to the design, he provided drawings
and double checked how the materials would work in 3D before the final build.

Steve has previously designed, built and fitted a kitchen for us, and more recently has refurbished a bathroom with new bespoke cabinets, panelling, new tiles and bathroom suite. Neither was very easy as existing appliances and structures needed to be incorporated. I can sincerely recommend Steve for his hard work and cheerful attitude. In particular he has the following strengths, which I have found are rather unusual!
1. He works quickly, and keeps to the time estimated even when the work is not straight forward
2. When there are problems, he doesn't moan or delay - he gets on and solves them in a practical manner
3. He undertakes plumbing. tiling, plastering and electrics as well as joinery, so you only deal with one person

Very pleased with the fireplace!. Delivery was prompt and Steve was extremely helpful explaining how to fit the fireplace - most useful.

Looking at the catalogue was a potential minefield, but after discussing the various options with Steve and the configuration of the chimney, the most suitable fireplace was selected. Very pleased, and I would certainly recommend.

Steve recently made and installed some items in our house including kitchen units, end panels, doors, cupboards, solid wood worktops and wood flooring. He undertook the plastering, tiling & all of the plumbing work required.. He also tidied up a lot of work which had been done badly by previous contractors. We have been very impressed with all Steve’s work, particularly his ability to work out solutions to some challenging requests, and to manufacture good quality bespoke work at a reasonable price.
